Underwhelmed so far, checked in today which is Sunday. Initially booked 2 nights @ 25k points. However rate went down to less than $300 so I switched to paid. Upgraded to a king suite, fireplace, view of Valley. Nice, however small, but just 2 of us. Unfortunately the room is on the 5th floor with a view of the roof, HVAC, etc. if you look upwards and to the left then you have the beautiful view.
Informed breakfast is grab and go from the deli, $30 per person allowance. Worse yet, no place on property for lunch or dinner tomorrow or the next day (except for grab and go deli). Sandy’s pub will be closed because food servers need two days off. However, bar will be open. Pool and resort is great for kids and families, but unfortunately no chaise lounges available all afternoon—all taken.
Noticed mention of amenities above, there were 2 wine glasses and a corkscrew on the kitchen counter but that’s it.
The grounds and views here are undeniably gorgeous.
The night prior we stayed at HR Resort Tahoe. Super Globalist acknowledgment and staff helpfulness. Delightful dinner at the Lone Eagle restaurant. Plenty of chaise lounges by the pool even though the resort was sold out. Also upgraded to huge suite (points stay). Grounds are beautiful here, too. Although the place feels a bit frenzied what with a few weddings and lots of families (a Saturday night). No charge for valet parking or resort fee. Just our dinner.
Will see how the rest of the stay goes here at Squaw Valley.
