- Name of the hotel:
ibis Kraków Stare Miasto, Poland
(the one next to the railway station)
- What is your ALL status?
Gold
- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes (if you're willing to stay at an ibis)
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a double room and that's what I got. No surprises
- How are the rooms?
Standard old ibis decor. Nothing special, but still in quite good condition. The bathroom look really clean.
- What was good and what was bad?
Good:
* The room was ready before the official check-in time.
* Very late check out (till 6 p.m.!) was possible.
* We got extra pillows when requested.
Bad:
* There is no luggage storage, which I only learnt about as I was going to check out. As the receptionist explained, they were still waiting for a permission from the big bosses in Warsaw to offer this service again. But she let me keep my room till 6 p.m. when I said I was GOLD.
* An office building is being built next to the hotel. There was some noise in the morning if you opened the window. Not an issue if you kept the window closed.
* I was a bit surprised not to find any bottled water. In my experience, other ibises in Poland leave 1-2 small bottles of water (even though they don't have to do it by the rules of the programme).
- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No lounge
- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Welcome drinks voucher for 2 people. A note at the reception says you can get a small (!) beer or a glass of wine or a soft drink. In reality, I got a large Żywiec (bottled) and small non-alcoholic Żywiec.
- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Yes and no. I thought that the basic room rate for was a bit too expensive for the standard of the hotel and the very low number of visitors in Cracow. Still, the bed&breakfast rate was a bit more reasonable. Most importantly, I wanted to stay near the railway station, so on the whole, it was good enough for me for this particular stay. In the future, I'd probably stay at the other ibis (with refurbished rooms) or Novotel/Mercure.
It is OK for a couple of nights if you're not going to spend a lot of time in the room.
