In my experience, when I was between the age of 18 and 21 (only a few years ago) and going on vacation/holiday with my parents, it was always the hardest because we would fly to a major US gateway with a European gateway and connect with a US carrier.

I was always offered Champagne as we boarded in London (or Amsterdam back in my KLM flying days ) however when we boarded USAir/Northwest/American in the states, an Orange juice was always 'given' rather than an offer of Champagne or Orange which I always found annoying.

However, at least I was always able to 'taste' the food which followed having only soft drinks available eventhough I have since discovered many wines do complement - however your mind doesn't think like that when your younger, does it?
