Also, more good news. My 21yr old son is heading to the US for the summer, and on a whim my wife called our local pediatrician and asked about getting him vaccinated before he left. The doc said okay, come in next week. So there may be some rule about getting Japanese who are heading overseas vaccinated ASAP. Then again, he might just be doing us a solid (he's an English speaker and has been our family doc for 20 years).
OTOH once he got to the US he could just get the vaccine here - mostly no wait and choice of vaccine -as long as he got J and J or will be here long enough to get 2 shots. Also no cost.
Then there'd be one more shot available for someone in Japan
