Awards always book in Y, so you'd need a mixed class award. Might because you are trying to book a J all the way?
Or, as connections are currently not allowed due to inbound quarantine restrictions, they might have suspended booking of them.
I looked at the mixed class awards and yeah I can then find some availability by changing HND-CTS to Y. Now I'm just finding a lack of flights from HND-CTS that fit with the inbound JFK-HND leg. I would have thought HND-CTS would be very common with many flights a day but quarantine maybe has changed that a little and they reduced the number of flights. Guess I'll just keep checking and hopefully something will line up, at least I can search now though. Thank you!
