I don't have too much of an issue with my Gmail when it comes to spam, and I run a filter script every few months to reduce the size of my promotions folder by 90%.
What I can't control are people who have the same name as me using my Gmail address as either their throw-away address (curse you) or other people who e-mail me thinking I'm the person of the same name they're trying to reach, which I usually ignore. It's rather frightening how many "me" there are in the world. In the latest batch of e-mails, it appears that "I" own a condo in Hawaii, and someone is very unhappy with the HOA and is sending e-mail rants to his fellow owners.
