I've had no issues booking either open-jaw or multi-city reservations using the companion fare ... as recently as Mar had SEA-EUG/EUG-LAX/LAX-SEA on the books; schedule change hosed that, so rebooked SEA-PDX/PDX-SBA/SBA-SEA
