The map above is to Marriott's Royal Palms, not Sabal Palms. Marriott's Sabal Palms is accurately shown on Bing Maps. It is located on World Center Drive, not Vacation Way.

Any class happening within a few months means Summer or early Fall. As a Floridian, what you should be aware of is when you spend more than a minute or two outside in our humidity, you'll feel like you need to shower. (That might be a slight exaggeration, but only slight.)

I used Bing's walking directions to get you from the approximate furthest room there to the entrance to Marriott World Center. You might end up walking about 5 minutes outside before entering the building. If your class is located in the far end of their convention center, it's probably another 5 minutes walk inside.

Aside from heat, you also should consider rain. In the past 48 hours, we've had about 7 inches of rain here in Fort Lauderdale. That same sort of pattern also happens in Orlando. (I used to live there.) These rainstorms can be heavy with strong winds. So, a simple umbrella won't keep you dry.

Personally, I'd stay in the same hotel as my class just to avoid the possibility of inclement weather and rain.
