Apple's Private Relay Email and other alternatives
Protecting personal email addresses and related details -- while still being able to engage in or otherwise use email communications -- has become an increasingly sought after feature for email users. To respond to growing consumer concern, Apple is getting more into the business of helping its customers with privacy for email addresses and seems intent to further rollout "private relay email".
Apple isn't the first to get into this. Firefox, for example, already has Firefox Relay as a browser extension to do much the same thing. Apple going down this route and highlighting it will will help further expand and mainstream the approach in a world where signing up on websites and engaging in other online activity has come to rely upon the use of registration and communications via email addresses -- things that can very much eat into the privacy of email users, subject email users to questionable activity, and lead to unwanted email overload as the email address gets out and more widely used.
