So, the original itin was YYZ-SLC-PSP but we changed to the JFK - LAX routing for the D1. They apparently did cancel the flight we were on but delta.com was still selling it. Once I got an agent, she was able to restore the D1 routing, but it took a long time on the phone...

I posted because it looked like they offloaded us to ATL-LAX and were still selling DL1353 but I see now it is gone.
