Or perhaps those people have more nuanced views than you (are willing to give them credit), based on a rational risk/benefit analysis. For example, forcing children to play sports outdoors with masks is idiotic. Many reasonable people take exception to such mask mandates.

If you mean "understood" as in there is a consensus, that's just not the case. There are fundamental ethical issues with enlisting children and giving them a vaccine of little to no benefit to them and unknown long-term negative effects (although one very serious one already popped up) to protect the rest of us. As in it's immoral, to the point of monstrous. As things evolve (note again, nuance, facts, etc.) I am open to changing my mind. But for now, If there should be mandates for vaccination in order to meet some herd threshold, go after the anti-vax adults.
