I recently set my due date as the 28th and it resulted in a closing date of the 3rd. Only one month in so too early to see if that is consistent. You might try a due date of the 26th and see if that results in a closing date of the 1st. It's easy to request a new due date online in the account details section (on the main page click ... next to the card and select account details).
