Just because the rules state that certain fares "may" be upgraded, don't assume that they "will" be upgraded.
We have experienced that probably 90% of SAUA attempts fail, either because upgrade space was not opened, or because
different airlines computers do not communicate properly about these upgrades.
You are probably better off buying a discounted Z or P fare instead of buying a higher priced Y fare and then playing upgrade lottery.
