Remember that if you go standby, you will lose your seat assignment on the seat which you are booked on, which if you have a nice seat is no fun. If you fail on your standby attempt you'll likely end up with yuchy seats

Your status or fare will make no difference for the standby queue; it goes on a first in first out basis
