I would like to book the economy class, then use one of the SA programs upgrade to business class. I understand that I’d have to book Y, B, which could make the ticket upgradable. I also see some airlines made other booking classes also upgradable, e.g.:I’m sure there are more examples. Which made me feel that each airlines has their own rules to upgrade the Star Alliance tickets. So my question is if I book the eligible class, let’s say Y, B, E, G (from my understanding, these booking classes are upgradable for all the SA airlines, if not, please tell), which partner airlines could upgrade my tickets but using the least miles?
I have Amex and Chase points that could easily transfer to some SA airlines, if necessary. Thank you.
