Thanks for the reply, and that's a great suggestion. The MUC-ORD flight is United and the flight I would be buying on my own is LH but if ANA can let me buy it and connect them as one PNR I'd be very happy with that solution. When I try to search for a ATH-MUC paid flight on the ANA site it shows no results - would a call center agent be able to accept a purchase of that flight still? Not planning to check bags but I just don't want to leave any room for us to be denied boarding.
