I think they target a late 2022 opening, the residences are almost finished but the hotel rooms are not, and Vietnam still closes its border to international tourism so there's no rush. I wouldn't say that's very Vietnamese per se. Rather, all of Asia takes their shoes off before entering homes. All cultures SHOULD do this as it's far more hygienic and clean than keeping your shoes on and bringing in all the dirt/germs with you.
