Interesting, my last 4 rentals have been from DTW, but I only got the email for 2 of them. Didn’t notice that before. Neither email has the text about choosing a lower tier car.
I think it matters how you book, the two I got emails for, I booked directly with Hertz, while the other 2 I booked with Priceline via AutoSlash. We’ll see if I get one for SAN (booked through SAP Concur).
