I've checked before for the "paid rate plus point upgrades" with the property and directly with my concierge for a premium suite upgrade, and the Hyatt website did not show the premium suite as available for points booking (but it was available for regular cash rates). The tricky part is that every hotel defines their premium (and sometimes standard) suites differently, so you need to know the right suite type that is eligible for this upgrade rather than assuming all suites qualify.
But at that point it's a toss-up whether any standard/premium suites are available. Only surefire way is to confirm award availability before booking. At least in my limited experience. Would be happy to be wrong. Do you have any recent or current examples where this is possible?
