Hey folks, noob here.
Over many months of work going through random pictures taken from airplane windows, boarding pass screenshots, and with the help of a few folks here, I've logged every flight I've ever taken. You can check it out
here.
My question: for those of you who log flights, how do you categorize extra legroom economy? Do you log as "Premium Economy" or "Economy Plus"?
Here are my for / against perspectives:
For:- Most domestic routes are served in a 2 class config, and extra legroom economy cabins offer a separate boarding group, dedicated overhead bin space, and in the case of AA, free alcohol.
- Splitting out these cabins informs the model better of which class of service received
Against:- The aforementioned are "soft products" only introduced in the past few years, and aren't a separate cabin
- Domestically, the only differentiation is the pitch, and not the width, amenities, or any other soft product, unlike international offerings
- If logging Comfort+ or Main Cabin Extra as Premium Economy, how do you differentiate this from international-config Delta Premium Select, American Premium Economy, or United Premium Plus?
- To this point, how are these not tallied in comparison to a domestic First Class config? When Flagship Business is a lie-flat pod in a 1-2-1 layout vs First Class in a 2-2 recliner layout, is there even reason to consider semantics when they don't mean anything anyway?
