The cost of Avios should be 4750 Off Peak and 5250 Peak. Therefore you should be charged either 4750 or 5250 + the RFS cash part.

BA system is stealthy converting the cash part into Avios, with the only 1 GBP cash. That is a very poor value to convert the Avios for the cash.
Is there a way to avoid this scam?
Yes, as I said earlier the only Avios I earned in the last 16 months were from BA Chase. In any case I was offered multiple options of Avios + cash starting from 9250 Avios + $ 1.00.
