KLM wouldn't know what a decent economy seat looks like.

The newer their Y seats, the more uncomfortable they are. The 777 seats with their "fixed lumbar support" represent the pinnacle of achievement in this respect. KLM's main, or only, concern seems to be weight and size reduction, in order to squeeze in as many seats and therefore passengers as possible. The result is thin seat cushions offering a bare minimum of support.
