Agree, I find it to be route and date specific. For example my son recently flew WN to BUR and returned via JSX due to pricing. Similarly we will be flying to CUN on UA and returning to SFO on B6. And earlier this year we flew to SLC on DL rather than WN because DL was cheaper. Very hit or miss.

The only constant I find is that AS is rarely the low price leader now for my leisure destinations - I am not sure if that is due to the many $99 vouchers floating around or what.
