1. Yes.
2. Beach is much more conducive to a toddler on the sunrise side as it's much wider and you still have a lot of area to play in even at high tide. Also, due to the shorter walking distance to reception, breakfast etc, 209 - 213 would be a good selection. If you don't mind the walk then go for the highest numbers on that side. Check out the recommended ones in the wiki for more info on this.

I believe 213 is a beach villa. 209-212 are 2 bedroom beach villas according to the map.

I disagree with going for the highest numbers on that side if you don't mind the walk. The highest numbers, say 237-239 are too close to the bridge to Mandhoo and the rock wall for my liking, and when I was there six weeks ago they were doing some dredging or something with tubes presumably spitting out sand around there. I wouldn't want to go higher than 228.
