Whether you'll receive miles for a flight on UA when crediting to M&M depends on the booking class and not how you purchased the ticket (modulo some in this case irrelevant exceptions).
As long as the ticket books into a revenue booking class you'll be able to credit the flights to M&M and receive miles accordingly.
