Florida is insanely busy for leisure travel right now and Saturday is very often short term rental changeover day with the airlines adding Saturday-only flights to accommodate the tourists and their condo rentals.
Other side of the state, we drove past VPS a couple times yesterday and it was similar with a traffic jam of planes waiting for gate space at the terminal and and another traffic jam at the turn from the Eglin runway to the civilian commercial zone. (Joint use facility)
The local apron and terminal expansion at VPS is actually underway but the completion date is NET 1Q of 2022 so I can understand the pain of the Key West flyer right now.
