I read from Delta site that Diamond medallion starts to clear 120 hours (5 days) prior to departure, but my LAX-LIH flight departs 6/8, which is about 3 days prior to departure. There are still 6 open seats in first class, and there hasn't been change in first class seating from T120 until now. I put a lot of spending on AmEx card to earn the diamond status, so I am just wondering what's the value of it if what's said on the Delta site isn't what's in reality....
Being a HNL based flyer, most of the time, Hawaii based flight upgrades will happen at the day of departure or gate. As a Diamond, you have the opportunity to clear 5 days prior if upgrade space is available. We all have been there, assuming once the 5 day hits, we automatically get upgraded. This is not the case, as only if automatically upgradeable inventory is available once your window hits. Your upgrade will depends on when the inventory becomes available within that 5 day time frame.
