I wonder if there is more to the OMATT story regarding his trip to this hotel, given his issue revolves around the use of SNA's. I ask this because I noticed he changed his "How To Use Marriott Bonvoy Suite Night Awards" article with respect to who controls the SNA process.
On the plus side, Suite Night Awards are cleared centrally by Marriott rather than by the individual hotel, which takes the process out of the hands of hotels that may be trying to game the system.
to what it reads as now:
Suite Night Awards are cleared automatically based on an algorithm created by Marriott and the hotel; so while hotels can limit capacity for these upgrades, there’s not much “active” gaming going on, and also not much human intervention
It will be interesting to see if the hotel or Marriott issues a formal statement, but I won't hold my breath.
