I booked 13 basic economy tickets for my GS troop to fly from CLT to LGA for July 2020. Of course, I canceled them because of Covid, hoping to fly this summer, and got flight credits.
Unfortunately, our GS council has decided not to allow travel this summer, so now I'm looking at next summer to finally get to take this trip.
According to AA, these credits expire March 31, 2022, which won't quite be long enough, since as a bunch of school kids we are mostly limited to summer time.

My question - since AA is now offering no change fees (I think) if I use these to book new flights, for pretty much anytime, can I then change them for something next summer? Does this question make sense? Or if that won't work, does anyone have any other ideas or advice on how we can salvage these tickets?

That's a lot of money for a Girl Scout troop to loose - that's a lot of cookies we sold to earn that money!!
