This has nothing to do with miles accounts growing. There are three things working against you here:

1) It appears DL is not offering D1 seats on ATL - HND through EOS and only allowing D1 seats via DTW / MSP / SEA / PDX. No idea why -- perhaps they think they can sell those given the Olympics and potential pent up demand as Japan re-opens

2) You are using VS miles so you only have access to DL saver level seats. When this sale happened last year, it appears that the 180k US - TYO bucket was mapping to saver so VS had access to it. That no longer appears to be the case (I see plenty of DTW - HND, SEA - HND, etc., awards available for sale on DL.com but none available on VS)

3) You are looking for 6x seats in a period with reduced schedules followed by a theoretical Olympics and return to major tourist time periods for Japan

I'm not sure what it is you want to hear. You can call DL and beg your case to open up award seats on a different day (unlikely), you can get a refund without penalty, or you and fly the seats you have. This is the unwritten risk that you have when you use non-DL miles on DL flights, they aren't going to do anything for you unless they are at fault (IRROPs, schedule changes, etc.)
