The BBC is reporting that Shapps has said Portugal was removed from the green list due to "a sort of Nepal mutation of the so-called Indian variant which has been detected, and we just don't know the potential for that to be a vaccine defeating mutation,"
Earlier today the WHO announced it was unaware there was a 'Nepal variant'. I'm not a virologist but isn't a variant the same as a mutation?
