There are currently no ferries between Helsingfors and Stockholm. You have to drive to Åbo (Silja Line/Viking Line to Stockholm) or Nådendal (Finnlines along route E18 to Kapellskär) for the nearest ferry. Other than those, there's also Wasaline (Vasa-Umeå). I wonder what happens if you show up at Vaalimaa with a Swedish car+passport and a ferry booking (or with no ferry booking but with evidence of residence in Haparanda).
You are right, corrected to Nuijamaa.
That's an excellent question - no need even to prove residency in Haparanda. The rule only says returning to your own country, so Malmö or Kiruna, doesn't matter.
