AF/KL is changing its bag fees for economy flights in Europe, starting today, making them flexible in tiers for several destinations.
Bag fee will now vary between 20 and 35 Euros depending on the destination. Standard bag fee will remain 25 euro for most destinatons.
20 Euro for
BHX, BRS, CPH, CWL, LBA, LCY, MAN, MME, NCL, SOU, VXO.
30 Euro for ATH, DRS, FLR, GRZ, KBP, KRS, LIS, OSL, OTP, SVG, TRF, VCE
35 Euro for AES, AGP, ALC, BGO, CAG, CTA, INV, IST, LED, NAP, OPO, SPU, SVO, TLV, TRD, ZAG
Additional allowance for Silver+ remains, Explorer still gets 10 Euro discount, except on the 20 Euro bag fee which will get 5 Euro discount. Source says bag fees also change at AF but doesn't elaborate on those.
To me the destinations in the tiers do not really make sense? ATH is for example a long flight in 30 Euro tier, whereas DRS is pretty close to AMS. Another example: LIS (30 Euro), OPO (35 Euro). Doesn't appear to be based on flight distance.
