It depends on the terminal. Like I said, you can go and find that thread from a few years ago. I don't have time to do it. It was very annoying and lots of people complained. Now that I have Chase Sapphire Reserve and Citi Prestige, I don't care anymore. AMEX is sort of useless outside of the US anyways. Very poor acceptance rate. Get yourself a Visa or a Mastercard for the peace of mind.
