Well I have heard that it could be sent to another city after X amount of days. Perhaps it takes 5 days or more before it gets sent to a central area for unclaimed luggage.
If that's the case then I don't mind leaving it in MIA. As for the contents inside the bag, it wouldn't be anything of great value. I will have a TSA lock on it just in case.
