During that Opening Night stay, probably the worst part of the experience was check-in and check-out. The hotel has adopted the use of 3 private desks for check-in, that is supposed to give a kind of exclusive personal/private aura.

We checked in right around noon on Opening Day. Of course, that means that, by definition, there would be nobody in the rooms at all, so there are no occupancy issues. However, it still took over 20 minutes of computer wizardry to get us our room keys and be on our way.

Check-out was worse. The whole Grand Reception area was mostly full of people, apparently waiting for check-in. My wife and I walked through the entryway and were intercepted by a few staff who asked us what we needed. We said we needed to check out. A young male staffer asked me for my room key, then disappeared for 2 minutes. When he came back, he told me that I was "all set".

However, driving home, I was unsure. So I called the hotel again. They were surprised to learn that I had checked out. So, apparently I wasn't checked out.

Furthermore, they really screwed up the whole "sauna cost" issue. I was told at the sauna desk that I had to pay 40k KRW if I wanted to go, but my wife met no such resistance. I expected at check-out that I would be charged 40k KRW for her admission. But we weren't charged. So either they mistakenly didn't charge me for my wife's admission, or they were wrong when they told me that the sauna costed 40k KRW.

Sauna and the non-check-out process were a bit too bad. Hopefully the hotel figures out how to handle both of these, as they get into their routines.
