I have a question. As far as I can tell, EC members whose tier points year begins June 9th, or is it the 10th (i.e. in less than a month), will have the normal tier point requirements for status apply. No 25% reduction, correct? Because with all of the current national lockdowns/restrictions, there is not enough time in this calendar year fo me to requalify for EXP status with AA. Even with their reduced requirements for this year. Moreover, it doesn't appear so far that they will be doing another status year extension. However, achievng BA silver should be easier for me to accomplish than just trying to achieve the similar status with AA (Platinum); as I would still have to do that before year's end. And I was actually going to try and do this during my current status year which is about to end, because there were plenty of really cheap domestic first fares this past year with AA to get me to the 450 TP mark. But now I'm glad that I didn't bite, because I would not have been able to get in the 4 BA flights needed for the status to actually kick in. Hopefully, that won't be the case before June 2022.
