Thanks for the suggestion of looking in the Star Alliance forum even though I could fly any of the 3 alliances on an award.

Too bad that award charts are either a thing of the past or getting there. I will be looking to see whether the miles needed are too high compared with just stringing approximately 3 one ways and possibly (or possibly not) buying a few short segments. My intended itinerary would not be an extensive RTW trip but just one must see city and maybe add on 2 more for a total of 3 cities. Additional cities might be added as just a few hours as a connection. For example, arriving in FRA in the am and leaving in the mid afternoon.
