I kept my expectations low and am actually very happy with my stay so far.

Check in welcome was warm and pleasant, received a two level upgrade and a room with a nice view, perfect for the evening's lovely sunset. The welcome gift is not particularly good - two small bottles of some red fruit nectar. Went to the bar for my welcome drink. It has limited service at the moment, but the barman was great, discussed something made to measure for me and went to the kitchen to pick up missing ingredients. Lovely cocktail resulting too!

I've read a lot of lukewarm reviews about the rooms but I must say that I find mine very nice. It feels reasonably well renovated, and the triangular terraces are very nice to enjoy a drink. The rooms feel reasonably spacious, bathroom with separate toilet (but slightly dated bathtub with showed attachment) and the always very nice Hermes toiletries. Luxury teas and Illy espresso machine in the room too.

Outdoor pool is open (and heated) and I had it all for myself for a swim which was great (there were people around and others came in the water later). Restaurant was full tonight but they do the full restaurant menu as room service, which quite frankly is more what I fancied anyway for my first stay back in a hotel after many months. Food itself was decent but not overwhelming (grilled octopus with venere risotto, both were overcooked to my taste though it may be partly due to the room service element). Quite expensive, especially the desserts (€15 each!) but as it happens, I was more in a mood for an excellent baby gateau basque I got from one of the two star pastry shops in town.

All in all, the stay is starting very well and I'll happily be back...
