The Delta gate agent was wrong.

The Delta Required Travel Documents webpage specifically lists "Other Government-Issued Photo ID Card" as acceptable forms of ID and it has a link to the TSA Guidelines for Travel Documents webpage which include "DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)."
