Just completed a stay here!
I booked two rooms, one award and one base cash rate. They were upgraded to a tower suite and adjoining room, and they were ready even upon our early arrival. Vouchers for elite breakfast at Surfrider Cafe were given at check-in, and service was fast and the selection is not bad.. I highly recommend to fresh toasted croissant breakfast sandwiches.
Gym is open and still requires a mask. Heavenly Spa is still closed.
There is no ETA on when the lounge (Beach Club) will re-open as it is closed due to COVID restrictions.
Hotel is picking up occupancy fast, so be prepared to wait at the Front Desk if at peak hours. There is still an elite queue to the side, hooray, but they do receive quite a few elites daily (even AE). Most of the regular staff have returned along with some new faces, and everyone was helpful.
The hotel has plenty of staff roaming the facility sanitizing surfaces and refilling hand sanitizing stations.
Besides the lack of in room dining, lounge, and Heavenly Spa, the hotel experience is back to normal.
Mahalo 🤙🏻
Sounds like things are moving along and will be fully reopened soon. I don't quite understand what covid restrictions could keep the lounge closed, given indoor dining is permitted on Oahu, but at the rate things are going, hopefully it will be reopening in the next month or two. Until then, though it's not nearly the same selection, Nancy at the Surfrider sure is good at taking care of everyone.
(I think that once the state figures out vaccine exemptions for those coming in from outside Hawaii travel volume will get more normal and maybe that will be the extra push they need)
