One night at CVR seems like a hassle. Although it does have the benefit of being half the price of a standard suite at ventana. But then so does the GH SF. Personally without kids CVR isn't worth more than one night unless you really want to explore carmel. It is much more geared towards families and the hard product is good but not great. If you do spend the one night here...get a massage here as that will also be a substantial discount to ventana. Also, for dinner if you're willing to drive, go to lucia at the bernardus lodge or to Roux in carmel valley. WAY better than the restaurant on property. Or if you are willing to spend cash, just spend the one night at the bernardus instead.

Maybe just see what dinner reservations you score in SF and make the decision that way.

You can always try to eat at Nepenthe one night if/when you tire of the ventana menu. They don't take bookings right now though so could be quite the wait
