I was interested in seeing what Makai included these days, and I did not see the one benefit that was MOST, and I mean of UTMOST importance to us...they had a special roped off section at the pool which consisted of many covered lounges - not the clamshells, but lounge chairs with canvas covers so you were always in the shade (they also had full sun loungers) - but I need/want the shade, so we would get there early enough every day to make sure we had two of the shady ones. I don't know if this was just an oversight in listing the benefits, but I wanted you to be aware of this. Maybe the person who just got back can clarify if that is still a Makai benefit...or maybe you don't care?

I do recall when we made our reservations back then Makai Lagoon Tower was a small premium over the standard points rate, but not to the huge extent I'm seeing now.
