My error - I meant to say that AA won't let anyone add their AA # (not BA as I had said earlier) to a BA Avios booking on AA metal. This came about after they (AA) got tired of their elite members booking award flights cheaper using Avios but then wanting their AA status benefits. Sorry for the confusion; I fixed my post above.
