I'm a diamond with Delta, and a lot of people complain about not getting upgrades and on the Delta board they use the term WFBF for Want First Buy First. I think this applies with Hilton as well. But at least with airlines if there is an upgrade available there is an upgrade list based on status and fare class paid. Unlike Hilton where they may let the room stay empty or give a gold or silver an upgrade over a iamond just because they got there first and aske.
