100% not allowed and it drives me nuts it's now part of the fifteen announcements before the plane is even in the air. Never used to be the case but I guess someone somewhere along the way brought their own alcohol, got drunk and caused a disruption.

Obviously if you're discreet the FA won't know about it - but don't do it to the point that you draw attention to yourself.
