The big difference between your home and a plane is that at home, if you walk on dog pee you can easily change your socks. I don't usually carry an extra pair of socks on a plane.
Pro tip: wear shoes on the plane and you won't get dog pee (or human pee in the lav, spilled drinks in the cabin, etc) on your socks.
