That'd be a great way to destroy the country's tourism sector. Once a country does that, millions of people are going to look elsewhere to where there are no such requirements.

Just thinking to what French Polynesia did, but they're under the control of a much more restrictive french government. I still doubt the Maldives will do much, given how much less organized their gov't is and how extremely important tourism is to their economy especially as an autonomous nation.
