We stayed at the Wailea during late April for my 50th birthday. This was our third visit to the Wailea Marriott. We booked a points redemption, 4 nights for 200K points and get 5th night free. Booked the lowest level garden-view room. Received a Titanium upgrade to a Premium Ocean view.
Check-in: We arrived during the rush at 3pm, but the line moved quickly. Titanium status recognized at checkin. Lei greeting with cold POG. I was given a Titanium appreciation gift and letter; a small bag with some locally made Lavender hand sanitizer spray and some Lip balm.
Room: Received upgrade from lowest level room to Premium Ocean View. Hale 7, room 7225. Bell service picked us and our luggage up in a golf cart and drove us within a few steps of the room. Great room, overlooks Wailea beach, the Luau, and grounds. Room is well done, and was in great shape. We enjoyed wine and drinks several nights on our Lanai, watching the Luau and relaxing. It was not a bother in any way, ending by 8pm each evening.
Breakfast: As mentioned above, we received coupons for two for every day of our stay. We alternated between Starbucks and Whale Tale and it was plenty each day.
Dining and Bar Service: We only dined at the pool-side bar, KAPA, once and food was good, service was great. Many pool-side drinks and some food at both the Adult Pool and 'Ohi Family Pool. Great service, quick, and drinks were good.
Pools: We had no problem finding pool chairs at the adult pool in the mornings. Disclaimer, we were up early each day. Often, we skipped the Adult Pool and went to the North, 'Ohi Family pool for hot tubs and less crowds.
Resort Fees: Lei greeting as mentioned. We received at least four bottles of water a day, maybe more. So much we had extras when we left. We utilized the shuttle service on days we were tired and got a lift up to the Wailea shops for dining and shopping. We used the beach chairs on three days; no issues at all, they put up extra chairs for people who asked. They took them down early in the afternoons, but wind would be very high and few people were on the beach.
Service: We received a very nice gift basket on my birthday and personalized card. Aloha spirit was apparent on EVERY staff member we came in contact with. No complaints.
Covid concerns: We had to show our Safe Travels approvals on our phones prior to check in. Mask usage was posted and adherence was pretty good. Not used on the beach or around the pools, and we were fine with that. Walking to and from beach, pool, around the resort... masks on.
General Comments: The resort may not be at max capacity, but still felt full. Any more full than what it was and it might not be as enjoyable. Wailea overall felt like it was getting back to normal, but dining capacity really needs to be increased.
We enjoy staying in Wailea when in Maui. If the price is right, the Wailea Marriott is a great option for us.
