Since this is an upgrade question on a BA flight using Avios, your question would be better answered in the BA forum.

Alaska Airlines has very specific language in their Terms & Conditions about requiring a members Mileage Plan number to remain in the PNR when benefits have been granted. I would check on the BA forum or look at BA's Terms and Conditions for clarity on their policy.

Mileage accrued in other airlines' frequent flyer program accounts may not count toward MVP® or MVP® Gold status qualification unless otherwise permitted by Alaska Airlines. When using MVP or MVP Gold benefits, including First Class upgrades, mileage may not be accrued in any other airlines' frequent flier program. The member's Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan number must appear in the reservation such that mileage accrued for that flight will be credited to the member's Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan account, before MVP or MVP Gold benefits, including First Class upgrades, may be used on that flight.
Any changes made after such benefits are used may result in forfeiture of such benefits.

Earning EQM & RDM in Mileage Plan for flights falling within the specified flight number ranges Marketed by BA can be found here. It is important to note that fare classes not listed will not earn in Mileage Plan.
